CENSUS: US 1860 ESSEX Co. Newark New Jersey; 734-1408 pg 156/157; dated 26 June 1860 Ludwig (Louis) father of Henry Charles. Came to the USA from Germany in the early 1850s. Lived in Newark, NJ and was a Stone Cutter. Married in Germany before 1844 to Magdelena (Lena). Information was from the US Census of 26 June 1860.

CENSUS:US 1870 ESSEX Co. Newark New Jersey page 180; dated 25 July 1870 Louis is listed as being a Stonecutter. Live in a home valued at $4000 and had real property of $500. His wife Lena "keeps house", Louis (21) is a carpenter and John (17) is a Stonecutter, William (15) is listed as Wiss Truck M, Charles (12) Lena (11) and Catherine (6) are at School. Louis (53), Lena (50) and Louis (21) are all from Hesse, Darmstadt the rest were born in Newark, NJ.

GERMAN CHURCH RECORDS In some German church records, Nickol Ulrich and Catarina Christmann had a son, Ludwig on 18 May 1818 in Bayern, Ptalz, Sand, Civil.
