Not much is known about Nathaniel, but Mary had a mortgage on 15 acres in Providence
belonging to Moses BOWDISH of Providence, a yeoman. The mortgage was paid 20 Nov.
1729 when Mary had receipts by mark. After Nathaniel's death, Mary married Peter
PLACE of Glocester, Rhode Island as his second wife, about 1734. Peter was a cooper
as well as a pastor of a Baptist Church in Smithfield. His will dated 25 May 1740
states that he recently married Mary BOWDITCH. The will of Widow PLACE of Smithfield
was proved 31 May 1740 with executor John Winsor. It mentions Joseph and Moses
BOWDITCH, daughters Mary DAVIS, Mercy PHILLIPS, Patience ASWINE, Hope WALLING,
Catherine LATHAM, and grand-daughter Mary BOWDITCH.
